Photography Workshops & Mentoring
I love teaching and consider it one of my favorite things to do in this business! I offer two different workshops for folks that want to learn new skills and ultimately get better results. These don't necessarily build on each other, but if you plan to do both workshops, I would recommend taking them together (if offered at the same time) or in the order listed.
Creating Better Photos with Your DSLR -Introductory Rate of $99 Until February 5!
1:30pm - 4pm - March 3 & 4, 2018
Got a fancy camera? Want to know how to really use it? Get yourself off auto-mode and stop letting your camera make creative decisions for you. We'll explore elements of strong photographs and how to incorporate those elements in your own photography. You'll learn how to make thoughtful compositions, how to seek flattering natural light, and how to control aperture, shutter-speed, and ISO to create a better photograph! This workshop is the perfect present for the photographer in your family.
Processing & Preserving Your Photos - Introductory Rate of $79 Until February 5!
9:30am - 12:30pm - March 3, 2018
Got pictures? Lots of them? And no clue what to do with them now? Get your pictures off your memory cards and into memory books (or other special keepsakes). We'll explore ways to upload photos and how to select the keepers to save hard drive space. You'll learn my flagging and tagging system to keep photos organized and easy to find. You'll learn basic editing techniques in various software applications to enhance photos and make them look their best. We'll also discuss how to back-up your photos so that they are always safe (even if the unthinkable happens). We'll discuss keepsake ideas and my favorite affordable vendors for keepsakes including photo books, photo albums, prints, wall art, and jewelry. Participants will bring a set of photos to work with and leave with photos ready to upload to their favorite album maker or ready to create a special keepsake.
Requirements: Laptop with a basic photo editing program (most computers now come with a basic photo editor) - please ask if you have questions!
*Lightroom and Photoshop are recommended but not essential since most photo editors will have some similar basic functions.
*This is NOT a comprehensive Lightroom or Photoshop editing class, but will cover some basic editing adjustments and ways to enhance photos taken with any camera.

Mentoring
I love teaching. I know I already said that, but I do! I'd love to provide mentoring to anyone who has a lot of questions and doesn't want a structured class. If you want something a little more individualized, I'd love to talk about your unique learning wish-list. Topics can include technical and creative aspects of photography, editing (Lightroom and Photoshop), organizing, and publishing. Individual or paired mentoring is offered by the hour (4 hour minimum). Mentoring is open to both hobbyists and pros or those wanting to go pro.
